Welcome

The Village of Jemez Springs is one of New Mexico's most enchanted destinations! Nestled between stunning red rock mesas (remnants of ancient lava flows over a million years old) the Village is named for its famous mineral hot springs.

Fissures in the earth allow water near the surface to contact rock below that is heated by the magma underneath. The result is a steady supply of hot springs that bubble up throughout the Valley.

Jemez Springs is a great place to get away for the weekend, reconnect with nature and enjoy the healing mineral waters.

The Jemez Valley runs from an area just north of the Jemez Pueblo up through to the Valles Caldera preserve. Along this 66 mile stretch of National Scenic Highway you'll find natural hot springs, great fishing spots, endless hiking trails, and lovely camp sites. For those looking for more modern comforts there are many places to shop, dine and spend the night.

Over 3 million visitors pass through the area each year and it's been repeatedly reviewed by Sunset Magazine, the Santa Fe New Mexican, and the Albuquerque Journal.

Jemez Springs is an easy hour's drive from either Albuquerque or Santa Fe. Only 45 minutes from Los Alamos. It's a great place for people looking to get away for the day or weekend. Discover rest and relaxation in the fresh mountain air.

Lots of local flavor and activity centers around the Village square. Check the calendar for upcoming local events. You can also join our email list to receive periodic announcements of upcoming events.

Some area residents can trace their heritage back to the old Spanish Land Grant Families. The Jemez Pueblo continues the traditional ways of the Jemez Indians who inhabited the valley for many centuries. Much of the area is now a National Recreation Area administered by the U.S. Forest Service. Recently, the government designated 97,000 acreas a Historic Trust. This area include the Valles Caldera, one of the largest volcanic calderas in the world.
